At CES 2013, Sony stoned competition by unveiling Sony Xperia Z and ZL smartphone. Soon after announcement, we contemplated release of tablet along the same line from Sony. And now it’s official. Sony Xperia Tablet Z Specification

I still remember how Samsung touted of its galaxy tablet’s thinness in video advertisements, now Sony Xperia Tablet Z puts all to shame including Apple’s iPad mini or iPad 4 when it comes to thinness. This tablet is the thinnest tablet measuring just 6.9mm of thickness. Really, it’s not easy to believe. Even Xperia Z phone is 7.9mm thick. It is not just thin, it weighs, low for a 10-inch tablet, just 495 gram. Its weight and thickness makes it stand as the world’s thinnest and lightest 10-inch tablet. We’ve also heard that it features water-proof and dust-proof capabilities as well.

Reading by its specification, we speak of Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor to make this tablet performance snappy, along with 2GB of RAM to ensure that we’ve enough room for multitasking. It has internal storage capacity of 32GB with memory card slot for expanded storage. Since, we’re talking of tablet here, we may get other storage variant based models i.e. Xperia Tablet Z with 32GB storage, 64GB storage (although, these storage variants are not confirmed). The display is Full HD i.e. 1080p (1920*1080 pixels) with Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2. The screen size as previously mentioned is 10.1 inch. It comes with really good shooting capabilities with its 8.1 megapixel Exmor R camera with lowlight photography features and full hd video recording support. S-Force Front Surround 3D is another touted feature of this tablet as it boasts of 3D sound output that somehow intends to create surround sound experience around you with movement and spacious presentation of sound. The battery is of 6000mAh, which is not very high, but given the weight of tablet, it seems reasonable. We expect good power management on this tablet, because otherwise the positive points of this tablet might be easily overlooked if Xperia Tablet Z couldn’t run you all along. On the connectivity side, we’ve WiFi, LTE, NFC support, Bluetooth. It runs Android 4.1 out of the box, but will be upgradeable to Android 4.2 as well.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z Price, Release Date

As of now, this tablet is announced in Japan, but soon a worldwide announcement is expected. The release date of Sony Xperia Z tablet is likely to be in spring, this year. The price of Xperia Tablet Z is to be revealed along with release date details, but we’ve none of the details available yet. Price is a major factor when it comes to capturing market. We know for certain that we won’t get low pricing as we get on Google’s Nexus line of tablets, but we expect Sony to consider pricing on making marketing presence rather than just profit-making. As, we’ve hinted above, we do expect few models of xperia z tablet based on storage capacity and cellular connectivity. Sony Xperia Tablet Z will be available in two colors i.e. Black and White.
