If Samsung was not forced by market and demand analysis, it might have upscaled and established over 5-inch screen phones as mainstream devices among consumers. Well, that’s not the case for now. The success of Galaxy Note 2 phone has garnered enough confidence in Samsung to produce even much bigger phones, as Samsung announced today officially, about the launch of two new phones in a new Mega series – Galaxy Mega 6.3 with 6.3-inch display, Galaxy Mega 5.8 with 5.8-inch display. Many experts are disapproving of Samsung’s ambitious launch – Was the gigantic screen of Galaxy Note 2 not enough? Well, from my point of view – I see Galaxy Mega 6.3 and 5.8 as intermediate product to survey consumer interests and demand so that the company could forecast the future of Galaxy Note series smartphones (whether to add more inches to screen size or not). Anyways, here goes the rest of details about these two newly launched Super-sized smartphones or phablets:
Galaxy Mega 6.3 sports HD display with screen resolution of 1280*720 pixels probably whereas Galaxy Mega 5.8 has qHD display with resolution of 960*540 pixels. Both the phones are powered by Dual-Core processor, although the clock-speeds are little different. Both the Galaxy Mega phones have the same rear camera of 8 megapixel, while the front camera is of 1.9mp. Galaxy Mega 5.8 has 8GB internal memory while Mega 6.3 has two storage variants – 8GB model as well as 16GB model. Both these phones support external micro-sd card of upto 64GB. What’s interesting is that they’re launching with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of box and they also feature some of the Galaxy S4’s software tweaks and customization like, Group Play, Samsung WatchON, Multi Window, Pop Up play, S Translator, S Travel, S Voice, Air View, S Memo, S Planner, etc. They also have several camera tweaks and modes, like Drama Shot, Sound & Shot, etc.
