Within gap of 24 hours, Micromax announced its A116 Canvas HD phone and Samsung launched its Galaxy Grand Duos. We’ve had info about 15-20 days ago about the launch of Galaxy Grand, but not of the Micromax Canvas HD. But, its not surprising that Micromax has captured the hearts of bloggers, news publisher and consumers alike with their launch of Canvas HD. On every Indian news publication website, we’re abuzz with news, views and analysis of Canvas A116. This phone clearly smoked Galaxy Grand Duos in phone square off. Galaxy Grand is launched at price of Rs.21,500 whereas Micromax A116 Canvas HD is expected to be priced at about Rs15,000. That’s a huge difference between prices of both the handsets. On the specification side, Micromax Canvas HD is powered by quad core processor whereas galaxy grand is equipped with dual-core processor. Both the phone comes with JellyBean Android OS and dual-sim capabilities. There are only few not-so-major specs side in which Galaxy Grand wins, otherwise Micromax A116 Canvas HD clearly puts Galaxy Grand to shame when it comes to hardware powerhouse. Take example of resolution, Canvas HD sports 720p display whereas Galaxy Grand Duos has WVGA display. When it comes to camera, one can assume that Samsung wins on that front – both the phones contain 8 megapixel rear camera but we believe Samsung’s camera to be superior than that of Micromax. Furthermore, the front facing camera in Galaxy Grand is of 2 megapixel whereas in Canvas HD, it is just of 0.3mp (VGA). However, Micromax wins on most of the major fronts and if it lags, it lags by a minor margin on certain features which can be called reasonable since Micromax Canvas HD is priced much better and attractive. Winner: Micromax A116 Canvas HD. Don’t think of me as biased. I mean I love Samsung products, but if you compare these two phones – you’ll know the clear winner here. Some people do not see Micromax with the reputation that Samsung beholds in their eyes, but lets leave that image-making/manipulating thing behind, atleast here in India where the output/value matters the most. Lets differentiate the two phones wisely and ask yourself – which one would you like to buy?
Its better to go with Galaxy Grand
